In the past six to eight months, I have heard from five different people (some know me well, and others were getting to know me) that I am a SAY/DO person, which at the beginning, sounded like a nice compliment. But yesterday, when a leader used it again to describe me on a 1×1, I got a bit thoughtful and curious and started reading about it.
I discovered the SAY/DO Ratio concept, which is a characteristic that requires a set of skills and attitudes. It seems I have it.
From time to time, I have made a note on a post-it that gets lost (sorry for that – I have for sure missed a couple of things, forgot to set a call, or replied to an email). But indeed, I have consciously worked on developing that say/do ratio as part of my brand since the day I decided to practice «saying no» and focusing on those things that matter to me the most and bring more value to our results.
We get trapped in saying yes to people we appreciate or senior leaders or committing to things we don’t complete because of lack of time or out-of-scope, so we let people down, which, if repeated, will negatively impact our reliability.
We must learn to be receptive to «noes» and adjust expectations to avoid overcommitments and stress. Also, live led by the statement: if I say I will do it, I will honor my word and DO IT.
I am sharing below a couple of articles I found online. I hope they are helpful so you get to know how’s your Say/Do Ratio.

It is nice when you are seen from other crystals, and people point out some skills or strengths you have, but you were yet unable to name them. Also, it is rewarding when you know you have been working on making some changes, and finally, the results start to pop up without even looking for them.
